TERRY KING for Deputy Mayor

EXPERIENCE YOU CAN BUILD ON – 40+ Years of Civil Industry Experience
I bring more than 40 years of hands-on experience in the civil construction industry, progressing from working in the trenches to supervisory positions and, today, Project Management.
Throughout my career, I have been directly involved in quoting, estimating, scheduling, supervising and project-managing major construction projects, including projects valued at more than one million dollars.
My experience includes:
• Municipal road reconstruction, including projects involving kilometres of roadway.
• Planning and managing large-scale civil construction projects.
• Projects at CFB Trenton, including runway work and new hangar infrastructure.
• Coordinating and working directly with architects, engineers, contractors and other professionals.
• Managing project schedules, budgets, crews and construction requirements from planning through completion.
• Negotiating with architects and engineers to address project requirements and resolve challenges.
My career has given me practical, hands-on knowledge of how infrastructure is planned, designed, budgeted, constructed and maintained. I believe that experience provides an important perspective when discussing the future of Tyendinaga Township's roads, infrastructure and capital projects.
My commitment is to work constructively with every member of Council to ensure that Tyendinaga's interests and the voices of our residents are heard.
Campaign Platform
Our collective vision for Tyendinaga Township, built on transparency and the strength of our community.
Campaign Platform
People Before ALTO
Our communities should not be expected to respond separately to a project of this magnitude. Together, our municipalities have a stronger voice and a greater ability to ensure local concerns are not overlooked. I propose immediate collective action.
Road Re-Construction
Long-term road reconstruction, quality paving designed to last, and responsible infrastructure planning.
Refurbish, Don't Demolish
Our bridges are valuable community infrastructure and should be preserved. Viable alternatives for improving accessibility should be properly evaluated before any decision to remove them.
Cell Tower Updating
Proactively converse with EORN to increase the number of towers in our Township to improve connectivity.
New Bylaws For Blasting
Enforced bylaws requiring environmental studies and well documentation before blasting approvals are obtained.

Community Safety
Investing in our people through enhanced public safety initiatives .

Local Prosperity
Supporting Farmers,Residents, Businesses and local development projects to ensure long-term economic growth.

Collaborative Governance
Working hand-in-hand with the Mayor and Council to ensure every decision serves the Township's best interest.

My wife and I met in high school and recently celebrated our 43rd wedding anniversary. We are blessed with a son, daughter-in-law, and two beautiful grandchildren. Family has always been an important part of who I am and the values I bring to my community.
A Little About Me
I was born and raised in this region and have been proud to call it home all my life. During my younger years, I spent my summers on my aunt and uncle’s farm, where I learned the values of hard work, integrity, responsibility, and doing what is right.
I have also had the privilege of giving back to our community through coaching ice hockey and ball hockey. For me, the greatest reward has never simply been winning—it has been watching young people grow, gain confidence, work as a team, and experience the excitement of scoring their first goal.
As Head Coach of our local Junior Ball Hockey teams, I was fortunate to be part of teams that competed at the Canadian Championships in Edmonton, winning Silver, followed by another team earning Bronze at the Canadian Championships in P.E.I.
These experiences have reinforced what I believe makes a strong community: hard work, teamwork, respect, commitment, and looking out for one another.
I am proud of my roots, proud of my family, and proud to call Tyendinaga Township home.
Community Vision
A Call for Immediate Collective Action on the ALTO High-Speed Rail Route
We need to expedite our efforts concerning the proposed ALTO High-Speed Rail project.
With the federal government having moved forward with Bill C-15 and the High-Speed Rail Network Act, there is an urgent need for affected municipalities, landowners, residents and community leaders to work together and ensure that our concerns are heard before a final rail alignment is established.
This is not the time for individual communities to act independently.
We should collectively and expeditiously advocate for the Northern Route Option to receive serious consideration as the project moves from broad corridor studies toward a defined alignment.
Our objective should be to:
-
Bring neighbouring municipalities together around a common position.
-
Document the potential impacts of the southern corridor on agricultural land, private properties, municipal infrastructure, roads, drainage, wells and communities.
-
Request a thorough comparison of the northern and southern route options.
-
Require meaningful consultation with affected municipalities and landowners before an alignment is finalized.
-
Present the Northern Route Option as a viable alternative for detailed technical, environmental and economic evaluation.
-
Establish a coordinated regional voice to ALTO, the Government of Canada and our elected representatives.
ALTO itself has stated that the final alignment has not yet been selected and that public and municipal input will help inform the route-selection process. This gives us an opportunity—but that opportunity requires organized and timely action.
We need to act collectively, we need to act promptly, and we need to present a well-documented alternative.
The goal is not simply to object. The goal is to ensure that the Northern Route Option is fully evaluated before decisions are made that could permanently affect our communities.
Infrastructure For All
Our bridges are valuable community infrastructure and should be preserved. Viable alternatives for improving accessibility should be properly evaluated before any decision to remove them.
